I have a 92 Chev 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive pickup 5.0 engine, has no power. I have changed the both Injectors, Distributor, Cap and Rotor, Timing gears and chain, and the Knock sensor, have tested the TPS sensor, Egr Valve, Map sensor all tested good. Have disconnected the electrical plug back by the firewall and retimed it several times, it runs good for about a 1/4 of a mile then its back to no power. Banging head against wall. Any idea's would be greatly helpful.

Hi any welcome to TSF

Any chance that you have a brake problem, like a bad caliber(s) ?

Hi 68Chrgr

Sounds like a blocked catalytic converter or the transmission is slipping the moment the engine gets hot. Check your transmission fluid level when the engine is hot, if the fluid has a bad odor coming from it or if its pitch black in color the fluid and filter need replacing.

While you are checking your transmission with the engine running, bring the engine to maximum temperature and give a quick look underneath your truck for any signs that the catalytic is turning cherry red. The poor man's quick test method is to go to the rear tail pipe and feel for any difference in exhaust coming out with the engine hot and cold. The real test on the catalytic is to hook up a back pressure gage to test for blockage.

Note: Does the check engine light come on ?

post back your findings.

No check engine light, Manual Trans. Don't think its calipers, the truck rolls to easy not under power to have a stuck caliper. Thanks folks. I will check the Cat.
