I recently put a sick amd gaming build to later realize the am3 processor that i had hoped to put crossfire would (Its been tested) bottleneck the cards. I almost cried because my order was already through with a Radeon 6970/Phenom II x4 965. About a day after ordering i noticed some thread about the Asus 890fx boards experimentally supporting bulldozer with a bios flash.
This to others and i seemed a little iffy if anything. Same day i find a thread about Gigabyte's 890fx revision 3.1 being rebuilt to support both current am3/am3+ without any mods, native support!
Today i called into NCIX as quickly as possible (at work haha) to see if i could check the revision of my board. As you may know most warehouse based companies don't guarantee the revision of their boards because of the sheer volume of the inventory. Well this guy was awesome and actually got up and walked to the warehouse to check for himself what boards they were carrying.
The stress of not knowing if the build was future proof or not based off of a revision was huge.
