Hi,

Is it normal that a game displayed at 720p will not fill the screen of a 1080p HDTV? I have my Radeon 7770 (HDMI connection) set at 1080p for general PC functions, and I set games at 720p.

If there's any more info I should give, please let me know.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

I tried enabling GPU scaling, but that did not fix the black borders surrounding the game. The direction said to set the display at a non-native resolution, but this didn't seem to work either. When I selected GPU scaling, the only option it allowed was scale image to full panel size.

It seems the game picture will fill the screen if I set it at 1080p, but it'll shrink at any lower resolution.

I noticed that the webpage said that "scale image to full panel size" was not meant to solve the black borders around the game issue. It referred to using the scaling tool to fit the resolution to the display. However, it seems that any resolution other than 1080p leaves a small vertical slice of unused display even with scaling. At this point, the game will use the entire display, except for a black vertical strip on the left side of the screen about a 1/4 inch wide.

After closer inspection, my 1080p overscaled image doesn't totally fill the screen either. There's a verticle sliver of black as well (very thin) on the right side, while the 720p image has a vertical sliver on the left.
