6800LE underperforming? and my friends 6600GT crashing

Me and my friend both just built our new systems and well he is having a problem or two while mine runs fine except the fact that my 6800LE scores very low in 3dmark 2005. I have been told i should be hitting at least 4K because i have it unlocked to 12x1,6vp but im only running at stock now but i can get it to 345/825 and get 3518 3dmarks. Is my power supply holding me back? its a CG 400Watt psu, only 14A on the 12v rail and thats very low is it not? Im looking at getting a new Ultra X-Connect 500Watt and it has 33A on the 12v rail.. my system specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (newcastle) @ 2.2ghz
Asus A8V S939 AGP Mobo
1gb OCZ PC3200 Dual Channel DDR 2.5-3-3-7
Seagate 160GB SATA HDD
Leadtek 6800LE 128MB AGP
Nec 16x DVD+/-RW Burner
1x80mm system Fan

Now for my friends system/problem, he has everything setup with all the newest drivers and he is able to run diablo 2 and half-life 2/cs:source but when he tried to use 3dmark 2005 his system will crash and it has has 3 unique crashes after trying 3dmark 05 a few times:

Crash #1: Blue screen kernel_input_paging_error 0x0000007A or 0x00000077
Crash #2: System Powered Itself Down (or just lost all power?)
Crash #3: No blue screen and no power down, just grey fuzzy screen (locked up)

Now my question here is, is this also a power supply issue because i dont really know but it seems to be, as for the paging error tho.. wouldnt that have to do with the hard drive? or maybe it not gettin enough juice from his generic 450watt psu.. His specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice) @ 1.8ghz
DFI LP Ultra-D SLI Mobo
1gb OCZ Dual Channel PC3200 DDR 2.5-3-3-7
eVga 6600GT 128MB PCI-E
BenQ 16x DVD-/+RW
2x80mm System Fans (1 with LED and psu also has LED)
Zalman 7000B HSF w/LED
2 Led's in front
Seagate 160GB SATA HDD
3.5" Floppy

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I think your on track suspecting the PSU in both cases. Your 14A on the 12V rail is very weak. Your friends machine crashes under load so again I suspect the PSU.

Enermax and Antec make good quality PSU's. I have had very little luck with the generic stuff that come with cases.

Both systems running stock?

yes everything is stock on both systems, i been looking at Ultra's 500watt X-Connect, its the one with glow in the dark cables and are detachable from the psu, aslo it is only single rail but has 33A on the 12V rail. As for my friends system i also suspected psu there but was told a possibility of memory timings however that person never replied back on what to try..
Since you are friends and your looking into a new PSU why not try it in your friends machine. If it does not solve his problem then we can work from there.

I have heard a few rumblings about DFI boards and memory timing but that is unconfirmed.

yes i have heard things about them being picky with memory but this OCZ 2.5-3-3-7 is pretty good i hear. As for the psu, how does this look to you? is a 460watt enermax with 35A on a single 12v rail and costs CAD$87 which is a decent price for me.

I approve.
So you think a new psu will help me then? im ordering an Ultra X-Connect 500watt with a dedicated 34A 12v rail, mavke over at mvktech reccomends it and also said the enermax shares its 35A among all the rails, 3.3/5/12. Thanks for your inputs guys, ordering right now but now i just have to fix my friends issue >.<

EDITED: meant mvktech, mavke isnt admin at guru3d

I like the PSU aswell.
great, but the sad thing is i wont get the psu for 2 weeks+ cause i dont have a credit card and tigerdirect doesnt accept electronic bill payment so i cannot pay instantly :(, should get it around Oct 3rd or 4th. The plan is that when i get it i will bring it to my buddies and we will put it in his system and determine if he needs a new psu, or if its something else.. maybe the video card itself and in which case we will just RMA it. Thanks!
