I know this must be a very commonly asked question and fairly annoying :p but I'm paying for a 50 mbs connection. So what should I expect to have as a general connection speed? I know it changes depending on where you are and where your downloading from etc. But I have this old killxenos nic that might be restricting my download speed? Im getting about 3mbs. Ive gotta be able to get more then that right? Like don't tell me I'm paying for 50 but I only get 3.

Is it a 100mb nic? if so its not the issue. you don't mention a router but it could be a limit. Check the wan stats for your model to see if it supports 50mbps.
No its not the router. Router can download up to 450mbs (its one of the new lynksis routers) it isnt the modem. it is an old nic. I have a wired connection so I plug it into the nic in my computer. Thats probably whats limiting it I would imagine. Should I get a new nic? Which one? Any opinions or favorites?
