I spent some good money hoping to see 190MB/sec avg read. But unfortunately after installing Four Serial WD400JD's drives I only get 74MB/ sec which almost the same as when I had Two ATA/100 drives in RAID.. Very dismayed. Could anyone explain this to me please why it's so slow? I googled about using 4 serial drives in RAID before I bought these and the results I saw were very promising.. Thanks for any input.

Ok, I removed 2 of the drives so now with a 2 disk array I get 76MB average read.. Guess I'll take back those other ones.. =\

If you connected them to a PCI controller, you probably ran into bus bandwidth limitations. Like was mentioned, it's impossible to know with no data...

motherboard is: ep-9npa+ultra
controller is: nforce4 (on board controller)

I managed to get 80mb avg read with 3 hard drives.. adding a 4th hd drops it to 74mb avg read.

I'm taking back one of the hd's is this is all I can get.
