Hi, guys.

I am running windows vista which I am starting to loath. Anyway None of my programs avira antivirus, weather defender, or news can connect or update. I have done the following:

. turn off windows firewall
. added exceptions to ^^^
. uninstall zone alarm
. turn of avira antivirus
. uninstall norton
. uninstall symantec
. restart pc

still will not working. I can browse using mozilla or ie and download anything. It's just that the non microsoft programs will not work. any help is appreciated.

Update:
I tried to update windows defender and get the following error:
program cant check for definition updates
error found: 0x080070422


also went into Network and Sharing Center and changed setting to private. still doesn't work.

They ALL must run. Then reset Windows Firewall and install 1 anti-virus of your choice - but not one with a 3rd party firewall.
