I've already posted this in AV forums but thought I'd try here as well as I know you guys will post back efficiently even if you can't help

I have an Xbox one, Yamaha rx-v667 av receiver and Infocus in112a projector and would like to view films in 3D.

From looking around the web I believe I need active shutter glasses and that not all shutter glasses are made alike and will be compatible with all models.

The infocus website seem to recommend the Xpand X103's but they come with a fairly high price tag if I want a couple of pairs. I am hoping that those of you who are already familiar with 3D technology could advise on how important compatibility is and if I'm lucky advise on some budget pairs for reasonable viewing that would be compatible with my kit.

Thanks in advance

I'm not too familiar with 3D. Having said that, there are different implementations of 3D. Aside from the various types of glasses (ie: red lense/blue lense, grey lense, shutter lense, etc.), it's also a matter of how the various types connect/interact with the display. Hopefully, someone with first hand experience can recommend an option.

But based on what I know and read, I'd recommend buying the glasses officially supported by your projector.

Thanks JimE.

Tricky bit is balancing the officially recommended glasses (look to be a company that do universal anyway) for $65 a pair against the temptation of glasses on Amazon that are £15 for 2 pairs and claim to be the same specification (difference being you can't recharge the Amazon ones but have to replace the battery)

Sounds cheap enough to risk testing. I'd still recommend at least one official pair so that you can confirm how they are actually supposed to function.

Thanks. I'll give them a go and report back. At the moment I only have use for 2 pairs, but if I need more (and have some money) I'll look at getting a comparison pair.
