"30 second freeze" on logon

921 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Geekgirl
When I logon on my laptop, only the most basic services seems to start, and I cant open any programs for about 30 seconds when the hard drive kicks in and the rest of the services load. This seems to have some connection with me installing "dawn of war", if I restore it to before the installation my laptop is fine, but if I re-instal it and play it, it seems to start all over again.
Anyone got any advice?

I think you answered your own question.Your laptop probably isn't designed to play Dawn of the Dead. What are the minimum requirements of the game, and what are the specs of your laptop. (This is a rhetorical question)
My computer can easily handle the game, it just seems to have done something to my computer
Here you can find what the system requirements for Dawn of War are. The game does not require a super computer but for a good performance you will need a decent computer.

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

# Windows® 98/2000/XP/ME with Direct X 9.0b (included)
# 1.4 GHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon XP processor
# 256 MB RAM
# DirectX 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and
# Lighting and 32MB of Video RAM
# DirectX 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card
# 4x CD-ROM drive
# Keyboard and mouse

The recommended system specifications are:

# 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
# 512 MB System RAM (required for 8-player multiplayer games)
# nVidia GeForce 3 or ATI Radeon 8500 or equivalent with 64 MB of Video RAM

For multiplayer, the following are also required:

# 1 disc/player per computer
# Internet: Cable modem, DSL or 56.6 kbps modem, for online multiplayer play
# Network: TCP/IP compliant network.

Is this game suppose to run at startup?
