Alright i just reinstalled windows. After I get it installed it says I need to activate and register it. I get it hooked up to the internet and before i even get a chance to enter in the serial number it says that it was entered in incorrectly. I try using the same one I used for installing it and it still says that. Is there any way to fix this without buying a new key?

call microsoft, its their new crappy authentication system, everytime you install you have to call

Make the call. It's less painful than you'd think it would be.

make sure that you talk to a person and tell them that your hard drive crashed and you had to reinstall everything on a new hard drive.

I've had this problem a few times in the past. Called them up and just said I was reformatting and they gave me another code to enter after I was told I needed to call microsoft. So i'd be surprised if if that wouldn't solve it for ya.

Odd thing is I just installed it the other day and it worked fine.
