This is a WELL searched topic, yet it doesn't have a proper answer. My Taurus's brake lights (or the yellow lights i guess) and interior lights come on but not the headlamps. When I first bought the car, the automatic lights did not come on then later that DID automatically come on but now they will not work anymore. I have ruled out the sensor because brake lights still come on but I still do not know what might be wrong! People say it is the autolight sensor, the sunload (but my heating system doesn't have any problems that I know of), and the smart junction box. Anyone know more about this?

I also forgot to mention that my high beams don't work when switched to automatic but they do when I switch the head lamps on manually. My high beams work two ways : "flash" to pass and "fully on". While in automatic, my lights only work for "flash" but when the headlamps are manually turned on both "flash" and "fully on" work.

I'd consider swapping out the headlight switch - sounds like the controls in it for the auto headlights has decided to go on vacation.
