I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu. The anti-theft light keeps coming on. Some times it just comes on and nothing happens, then other times when I turn the car off and try to start it back it will not start. Now after the car want start I have to reset the anti-theft. Having to do this about 2 to 3 times a week now. I have no clue where to start looking to solve this so that I don't have to keep resetting it all the time.

Hello!
Its the resistance built into the key witch is wearing out as the key gets used, the resistance changes(if the anti theft see's a resistance change of more than ten it throws the car into lock up).
If you take it to a car stereo place that does remote starts they will bypass it for a nominal fee, or go to GM and buy a whole new ignition set and have it installed for considerably more.

The car's ignition switch is not that old. It was replaced when I bought the car about a year ago. But thank you for your help I will look into having it bypassed that sounds so much easier then resetting the anti-theft just about every time I want to go some where.
