The fuel pump is not the only component that can give out in the fuel system, there are other factors that can affect fuel delivery. Pat mcgroin, sable, and midnight tech already mentioned the possibilities of why the fuel won't go through the system. On your third post you mentioned that you hit the gas tank to get it started, this is a clear indication of a bad ground connection to the fuel pump or the wire harness from the pump to the fuse/relay box. A bad connection to the pump will burn the pump prematurely because of the start/stop action of the impeller when the field windings of the pump are energized. There is also possibility of a short circuit across terminals within the molex connector. You will need to do a thorough inspection and open the wire harness to look for corroded wires that may have fused with one another.
