OK, I know this is probably simple, but I'm stumped.

2 pc's (A & B) connected via a router with ADSL access. DHCP enabled.

I want to set pcB to have its own adsl connection using a USB connected modem. Connectivity between A & B must remain the same. In other words,

If I set pcB to fixed IP address and point the gateway to the USB modem, will that work?

Cheers,
Brodie

Sounds like it should, did it work? You could also accomplish this by modifying the routing tables, but that's a lot more complicated.

Finally got back to the job!

Yes it did work. And to test it I used tracert a few times to prove outbound data was via the 2nd modem.

However, curiously, it doesn't always use the 2nd modem. I will do some more experimenting to determine under what conditions this happens.
