I hope everyone enjoys the Memorial Day weekend.....it's the official start of summer here in the US.

My family was fortunate and all of them returned after WWII. My uncle and father-in-law were in the USN and served in the Pacific for the entire duration of the war.....another uncle was US Army and served in Europe. My father was in training at Great Lakes Training Center when WWII ended and served between wars.

My family was lucky also . . one uncle was 16 years old and at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked, landed with 1st Marines on Guadalcanal and went thru the rest of the Pacific campaign with them and survived. Another uncle flew Hellcats off the Enterprise.

Dad went over in time for Peleliu and stayed with them thru Okinawa , which is where he was when the Bomb ended the war.. Another uncle was a navigator on the B17's in Europe for 35 missions. Two aunts served in WAVEs and WACs,

"The Greatest Generation" is an understatement!
