What is it with so many sites taking these incredibly offensive assaults on their members?

I'm not interested in ExamForce ebooks, Firewall downloads, IT handbooks or 'trending' anything. STOP spamming my email inbox!!!

yep...I hate that crap too...and I had to manually set my user account as joeten suggested. I've been happy ever since.
