Hi, just wanted to wish all our Aussie friends a happy Australia day. I went to a wedding on Friday between a Kenyan girl and a Polish boy, both immigrants to this country, it was a cultural feast with African dancers and traditional Polish ceremony's. Just made me realize what a wonderful diverse lot we Aussies are, and all had a good time.

Happy Australia Day!

What is being celebrated? Is it like USA 4th of July Independence Day?

I had a few good day yesterday. Had a very nice BBQ with the family.

Australia day is celebrating the 'First Fleet' landing on the coast of Sydney in 1788

It really should be "Britain getting rid of its criminals to that new place far, far away" day!

Hi, that's actually true, as it was a penal settlement. The irony is that once free of the shackles of class elitism, these convicts freed made Australia into one of the world's great egalitarian countries, whose standard of living, freedom and achievements mark this as one of the best places to live on Earth.
