My System

How old is your friends Mac? Is it a iMac,Mac Pro, Macbook, or Macbook Pro? Older hardware will not support High Sierra. There are other Hardware conditions as well, such as Memory, and Hard Drive space etc. Have your friend look up the date of their Mac in About this Mac off of the Apple icon in the upper left and check it against this chart to see if it is capable of running High Sierra https://www.macobserver.com/news/mac...ompatible-mac/
If so, They would need to update to Yosemite or El Capitan first, then you can download the Upgrade from the Apple Store and run it and follow the prompts.

Hi Spunk.funk,

Thanks for the update however I would have to check some details with him. Rest are as follows:

1. Macbook

I will ask him to check the chart with his mac and follow your instructions.
