I have a mb pro 2013. When I push power button the screen remains black. Occasionally, it seems to be rebooting. Then I get a grey screen with a message in a box informing me to reset my password withdrew options. No matter what option I choose, the system must reset. The screen then goes black.

Can you try holding OPTION while you turn it on. When you do this... does it behave differently?

Holding option should take you to a screen asking you which partition you want to boot into.

You can also boot the computer and press Command+R to enter Recovery, here you can run Disk Utilities: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201314
If that fails, try using an external monitor.
