Mac freezes, screen goes crazy

This seems to be happening when I've been using it for awhile. my mac is 6 years old. does it need to be retired? i just put a new hard drive in it. what's happening to it?

My System


Your video chip which is soldered onto the motherboard is overheating and causing this problem.
There is a seam where the screen and the base of the laptop meet, blow compressed air into this to blow out any dust. Use a Laptop Cooling pad. If it continues to happen, you may need to have your Video chip Reflowed by a technician.
