OS: OS X 10.6

I have a Retina MBP 13 in (early 2015, Yosemite 10.10.5).

Helping out a friend whose Windows OS had crashed made me realise that Apple also no longer supplies Install DVD's.

Is there a way to make an installation DVD for the time when I need to make a fresh install of the OS? Can I get this on a pen drive?

Despite the bugs I am satisfied with Yosemite, and have no plans of upgrading to El Capitan. When the next version of OS X is released will I be able to directly download that through the App Store?

Computer companies have stopped issuing recovery CD's and DVD's a long time ago to save money. All computers now come with a recovery partition to restore the computer to factory defaults. The problem with the Mac OSX install discs is they are larger then the standard 4.7GB DVD-R by 100mb's or so. You need to use a Double layer DVD blank to burn to disc.
It is much easier to burn a USB Flash drive of an OS install. Here is how: How to make a bootable OS X 10.10 Yosemite install drive | Macworld
