Dock disappearing on startup

Hi,

I've been having a problem recently whenever I boot my Mac (10.5.6). Everything loads normally, but the dock quickly appears and disappears. It is NOT hidden (⌘+Option+D) and it reappears when I click on the desktop.

I was going to try a killall Dock in Terminal, but when the Terminal opened (i.e. a new icon appeared in the dock) the dock reappeared.

I have read about other people who have the same problem, but have not found a solution. Anyone know what could be going on here?

Thanks!

I also looked around the Library under Macintosh HD (not under a user) and found one plist file (com.apple.dockfixup) but that didn't lead to anything either.

Would it be ok to try and copy the Dock.app from another computer running Leopard onto this one or could that cause problems?
