Last week I tried running Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY on Steam. The game had been downloaded for months, but this was the first time I actually tried playing it. I immediately received a pop-up that said .NET Framework 3.5 needed to be installed, so I clicked accept, and the installation would fail with an error that said "Windows couldn't find required files to complete the requested changes". This issue and the errors I received can be found here:

Actual Error Troubleshooting Forum

After stumbling around for over an hour on forums, I happened across the page above which suggested an antivirus could be locking the framework somehow and causing the problem. So I momentarily disabled my Avast and lo and behold it installed!

I believe at this point and re-enabled my Avast and clicked play again. I almost immediately received a totally different Microsoft .NET Framework Error that said "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application." and gave me the option to quit or continue. By clicking continue it brings up the Arkham Knight start box (Play / Settings / Etc.), but clicking anything generates the same error again and I cannot progress past that.

I feel like I have tried everything at this point, I have NO idea how to resolve this. It must be some sort of corruption with the older version of the .Net framework? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. I'm almost to the point of seeing if I can get a refund for the game. I am pasting the error code details here for anyone who is interested:

JIT Debugging
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Seems like a directx 9 dependency issue. You need to install the directx June 2010 redist found here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109 and enable Direct Play as described here DirectX 9 and Direct Play on Windows 10 and Windows 8.
