This problem has been going on for a long time and appears to be happening more frequently. I'm running Outlook 2013 in Windows 10 Pro. Almost once a da day it freezes when I double-click on an email to get a full screen view (see attached). The bar keeps scrolling to the right. Task Manager End Process doesn't work. It reads "Suspended". Signing out left me with a black screen.

I've run SCANPST and limited my Add-Ons to Grammarly and Adobe Send File, which will load a file to the cloud and put a download link at the end of the email. It would be nice to get rid of the problem but is there any other way to force Outlook to close?

Force-closing Outlook when this happens is not a solution.

Can you try Outlook in SAFE mode and see what happens ?

Start--Run--Outlook /safe

I've loaded Outlook in safe mode, but only when there has been a starting startup problem. The failure may not occur for several hours so I don't think I want to be in safe mode that long.

I discovered that you can't run a repair function on individual Office programs but, from the Control Panel, Programs and Features, you can run it on the main program, so I did yesterday morning. The problem didn't pop up yesterday at all so I'll see if this was a fix. I have a paid Microsoft support contract that covers both our computers so they will be the next stop.

Could be internet downtime at certain times and Outlook is having problems connecting to the remote (email) server to download the message contents. Could be a problem on the ISP's side, or something on your PC that's using a lot of bandwidth at that time thus affecting Outlook's connectivity. The only solution to this provided by MS is to end the task via task manager and wait for it to end (takes time). See https://support.office.com/en-us/art...6-0d9d87783f99
Also see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/off...7-045f06640166 for tips that might help.
Does this happen for other messages as well, or just the ones from that Citi Bank domain? When this happens again, immediately run a speed test from a browser and post the results.
