Question

Hello. One of our users has an Excel 2007 spreadsheet that has 4 columns and their column headers are as follows:

Col A - Date

Col B - Sample #1

Col C - Sample #2

Col D - Sample #3

In column A it has the date and in columns B-D, it says one of four values in each cell - Poor, Moderate, Good or NR. It sort of looks like this:

Date Sample #1 Sample #2 Sample #3
3/31/2011 Poor Good Good
3/31/2011 Poor Good Good
3/31/2011 Moderate Good Good
3/29/2011 Poor Good Moderate
3/25/2011 Good Good Good
3/25/2011 Good Good Moderate
3/25/2011 Good Good Good
3/23/2011 Good Good Good
3/23/2011 Good Good Good
3/23/2011 Good Good Good
3/21/2011 Poor Good Good
3/16/2011 Good Good Good
3/16/2011 Good Good Good

I am trying to help him create a scatter chart with the dates along the horizontal axis and poor, moderate, good and NR on the vertical axis. Now the values (poor, good, etc.) obviously aren't a numeric value. They are text. I can setup the horizontal axis with the dates and even the legend mostly setup. I am just trying to find a way to chart it where on every date, one of the 4 values (good, poor, value, nr) is plotted. Since it isn't a numerical value I cannot figure it out. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thank you.
