I use Macrium Free to do full images of my primary SSD and my data HDD. I scheduled Macrium to run the backup at 5pm every Friday. It doesn't. The only way I can back up is do it manually.

Why? The computer is always on, although after 10 min. of inactivity, goes into sleep mode. But I would think Macrium would wake it up to do the backup, or would do the backup the first time I manually woke it up by moving the mouse.

??????

Problem is, I've done this before. It works once, that's all. I'll see if this time it works more than once. If not, I'll be back.

Try just using the Windows "Scheduled Tasks":Schedule a task - Windows Help for the data only

As is often the case, the M$ web page cited above has inaccuracies in it. It says to go to Start, Control Panel, System and Security. . . There is no "System and Security" on my Control Panel menu. So I went directly to Administrative Tools, Task Manager, and looked at Actions. Only 3 actions are listed as currently running and none say anything remotely similar to "backup". The list of scheduled tasks for the last 30 days is blank.

As I say in the post before this one, I have again scheduled a backup, weekly every Friday at 1700 hours. If Macrium does what it has done in the past, it WILL run a backup next Friday, but will NOT run one the following or any other Friday. We'll see.

I just looked at the scheduled backup a minute ago to see if it was there. It was, but although it said "Weekly" and "Friday" and "1700 hrs.", the Status column said "Not scheduled"!!!!!!!!!! Huh? What? Why does Macrium have the frequency (weekly), the day (Friday) and the time (1700), but says "Not scheduled"? I looked again at the scheduling window and discovered one box there that says "Every [fill in the number] Weeks". By default, the number "1" appears there and you can run it up to a max of 52 (a full year). I don't remember ever seeing that box. It's probably the reason it ran only one time. I set it to 52 in the hope that that will make it run the backup every week for a year.

This is, without doubt, one of the strangest variables I've run across in a program. Intuitively, when you tell something to run WEEKLY, EVERY FRIDAY, at 1700 HRS., that's what you expect it to do. Every. . . EVERY Friday. Why do you have to tell it for how many weeks??? It should run EVERY week until I don't want it to, in which case I will delete or modify the schedule.

Makes me wonder if Macrium's programmers came from the M$ crews that designed Windows ME, Vista and/or Windows 8. Absolutely unintuitive. . . bizarre.

The info you got was for a different OS. In Windows 7>Control Panel>Backup & Restore
