When I click on an app in the iTunes app store in order to download and install it, I am told that I first need to download and install iTunes. The problem is that I already have iTunes installed on my laptop. In fact, I can open iTunes by clicking on the desktop icon, etc, so I definitely have it.

If I open iTunes on my pc before I try to download and install an app from the iTunes store, it makes no difference. I am still told that I need to download and install iTunes.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you!

Did you make sure to uninstall all iTunes products? It may be a component wrong with iTunes:

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Bonjour, if you've got it on the computer. Actually, try installing it without Bonjour before reinstall.
