how to get latest emails on top thunderbird

This is a discussion on how to get latest emails on top thunderbird within the Email forums, part of the Tech Support Forum category. I have changed to thunderbird from wlm its ok but I prefer my latest emails to come in on top,

I have changed to thunderbird from wlm its ok but I prefer my latest emails to come in on top, how do I do this in thunderbird. thanks.

The problem is that 'newest on top' is default with the majority of email programs, so you have to change 'View' (sort order) every time.

Since to permanently delete mail in TBird takes two steps, first from Inbox, then from Delete, users who properly maintain the app should have only current unread mail in the Inbox, hence the default setting. The Saved box takes care of the obvious. Unfortunately I've seen users whose TBird is a smattering of everything under the sun including loads of sub folders created for no apparent reason with many unopened Emails spread across all or most of them.
