My wife just spent 6 hours working on a recipe she got from a friend.
The dilemma is do I tell her how good it was, and have to suffer through it at least once week until she finds another great recipe or tell the truth and hurt her feelings?(she did try hard)

When it comes to food, I never lie. I may soften a negative assessment to make it less hard to take, but it will still be clear that I didn't really like something.

Luckily, I am a cook and value learning when my experiments, no matter how complex and time consuming, have not worked. Why repeat something difficult and tedious for results that no one likes. Sometimes you can tweak something and make a failure absolutely spectacular, but you can't make those tweaks if you're being told, "Oh, it's great!!," when it's not.

Yes you can be honest, but if your wife is anything like mine, then I recommend that you do it in as tactful and diplomatic a way as possible.

If you bring it up in too harsh a way, you'll be eating TV dinners at least once a week.

Ahhh.....the wife dilemma. A most perplexing conundrum of man since the dawn of time. As Shakespeare once said; To Tell or Not To Tell (LOL).....that is the question. As Guns and Roses said.......To live and let die.......so with that said "Proceed at your own peril".

So the real question one must ask; how strong is one's marriage? For me, 37 years has earned me the right to voice my opinion. But....this is my wife and I still pick and choose when to voice my opinion.....LOL. So I don't have to sleep with one eye open.

And that said.... for me; I'm a trained cook....and from that point on I did all the cooking for the household. I still let the wife in the kitchen to do her thing every now and then. To my surprise, every now and then she knocks one out of the park.

With my training as a cook.....I've learned how to suggest ingredients to the wife's cooking and some techniques to go with it.

So good luck fella's. Pick and choose wisely.
