Hi, An elderly (and not tech savvy) chum of mine had a W10 update happen automatically 2 days ago and his photos and some files are all missing from the folders that are still there. Also his defalt chrome search changed from Google to Yahoo.

Edit: It seems the System's own Pictures, Music folders are the affected (empty) ones.

We've changed the search back in settings but I'm a bit baffled on the lost files - anyone seen this and have any suggestions? He has asked MS for help but does not understand what they are saying to him :-(

Thanks
Mike

His User Profile could not load properly, so Windows loaded a Default Login Profile instead.
If you browse to C:\Users\[UserName] you should see their personal files (ie) Pictures, Music etc.

Or just type in the name of a picture or file in the start menu and before it takes you there, it tells where it is.
