Recommend the free VLC Media Player. Their official site is here: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

My System

I second recommend VLC. It works for most video files whether on a disc on not.
What is the DVD player app you downloaded and the one you previously installed, so other will know not to use them?
Do a search for the one you downloaded but was blocked just in case a part of it got installed and you can delete it.

Did the DVD player stop working after you upgraded to Windows 10?

Here's one question nobody has asked yet.....is your actual physical drive itself working?
