Turkey downs Russian warplane near Syria border, Moscow denies airspace violation

I didn't think it would take long for this to happen.

Matter of time... just happened sooner then I thought

With Turkey fighting both the Kurds and ISIS, the US/NATO fighting ISIS with the Kurds, Russia fighting ISIS and the Syrian rebels for Assad... wait... what was I saying?

Both pilots ejected but were shot and killed on the way down by rebel forces.

I think things are going to get out of hand........oops need to make a correction....more out of hand.

The pilots are dead and another died on a CSAR mission to get them...

Had they survived that would have been an easy out for Putin... maybe some trade punishment on Turkey...

Now I don't know

I'm thinking Turkey finally got fed up and waited for that moment to shoot down an aircraft violating their airspace... Russia has been noted as poking that bear trying to strike the Syrian rebels in the area

Last I heard was Russia was 1km outside of Turkey's border. Looks like Turkey is wanting to drag NATO a little further into the battle......

I'll have to take another look.....I may have missed that. How far did they encroach Turkish airspace??

Latest I've heard is that the Russian jet was in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds........sounds plausible with that little 'finger' of land that projects to the south. Not sure if the incursion warranted shooting down an aircraft and killing one of the pilots as he was hanging from a parachute. New reports indicate the navigator has been rescued......and claims no warnings were given by Turkey.

As far as Erdogan helping eradicate IS I'm not sure. Plenty of rumors that he is one of the major buyers of oil products from the refineries that have been captured by IS. If Turkey is buying IS oil they are supporting terrorism......

Turkey did not kill the pilot, the Anti-Assad militias (not ISIS) the Russian plane just bombed killed the pilots, as well as taking out the CSAR helicoptor and killing the Russian Marine

I have sympathy for the pilots and Marine that lost their lives... but not for Russia... they messed up here...

And what I said in an earlier post, Russia had been making multiple incursions in Turkey's airspace... I think they just go fed up and waited for the next time Russia decided to breach

The pilot survived and is now back at his airbase. He claims there was no warning and he wasn't in Turkish air-space.... - Link
