Not to stir the pot....but there's evidence that McCain was a collaborator during his 5 plus years stay at the Hanoi Hilton. Trump has stated so publicly.

That said...I've not done any research on that myself but some of McCain's co-captures has stated emphatically as such during some of their interviews. Like I said...I've not done any research on this.

I've heard that, too. I've also heard he could have had an early release and refused unless other prisoners were released also.

Trump was going by "Flag Protocol"......and probably hated every moment. Last part of Section M:

Too much public outcry:
Quote:
But first thing Monday morning, the flag over the White House was back at full-staff, and a barrage of bitter criticism soon followed, with detractors — including the American Legion — interpreting the fleeting tribute as a sign of President Trump’s pettiness.

Not the first time he's had to make a course correction......

Trump doesn't read anything but he is a voracious TV watcher so no doubt he could not take the public outrage about his outrageous behavior. It is one thing to be "controversial" but quite another to prove how stupid one is by doing so?

The opinion article was/is a hoot.......

For me, his 'flaw' was quite obvious from day one all through the election cycle.

It's safe to fly the flag at full staff, now. McCain was laid to rest yesterday.
