I've been following the B17 report.....5 dead so far.

Been following our politics, too.....that in itself constitutes a news overload.

Can't be any worse than ours.

Someone had the 80's music channel on in our club last night and they were playing this,

Very topical.

I didn't know what to expect with Warbird in the title. Back in 2000 I was going to use Warbird as my username but it was taken. I then came up with Warborg but I always remember it. However, this is totally different.

Sad for the loss of the plane and the lives.

I met a man who was a navigator on a B-17 during WWII. I wish I could have talked to him more when he was alive. He was a relative of my son's MiL.....he passed away in 2000. I met another man ~'07 who was putting flowers on his wife's grave....he was a WWII pilot. He flew many planes but not the B-17. He is now buried next to his wife.

Search for Robert E. Arn.....quite a story.

Thought we'd hear from Midnight Tech on this one. My first idea was why on three engines, the pilot didn't try for additional height before attempting a landing. Might have been impossible. Guess we'll have to wait for FAA report.

Nothing stands out in the initial reports......I thought it was fuel but that's not the case. I did notice mention of flaps being retracted.

Probably but as a pilot of a 4 engine aircraft they should be trained in ALL emergency situations if they are gonna fly a military aircraft

Pilot was commercial certified and rated on the B-17......co-pilot also certified as commercial. Co-pilot was rated for larger planes, including DC-10.

Not sure on this one. Think I may have seen it last year at New River airshow.
