EXCLUSIVE: California profs 'unequivocally' endorse American flag ban

This is the United States. If people are embarrassed or feel belittled by the American Flag then perhaps they should go elsewhere. The student resolution banning the flag was drafted by six students in the student "government." Student government is a joke. I once knew a guy who was elected to the student senate with a total of eight votes, in a University of 30,000 students.

If a university wants to ban all flags . . whose business is it other than theirs?

The students should email every teacher with just one photo.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the Californians saw that to be "okay".

Perhaps the school should use a "throwback" flag, sort of how they do in Football with their uniforms.

they should be allowed to ban the flag. however if they do, they should lose every single federal dollar they get whether it be from student aid to whatever.

Loss of both Federal and State funding.

I never cease to be amazed at how a country that prides itself on individual freedoms can get its panties in such a wad when someone actually exercises that right.

Really ? ?

They dont need to lose state funding, just federal funding since the country that flag represents is providing them... if ISIS starts funding UCI then fly the ISIS flag, until then however...

So, whenever someone exercises their individual freedom that does not agree with us, they should be punished?

The thing I don't like is the assumption that flying an American flag in America somehow offends immigrants and visitors. When I traveled to other countries I saw them flying their nation's flag and didn't feel offended. If you come to America and visit an institution that receives state and federal funding then you should expect to see both the state and national flags flying.

So you must agree that corporate entities are citizens?

A school, like a corporation, (SCOTUS was wrong) are not people...

They are a school that receives funding from the country of the flag they just banned...

so you are saying unless we agree with you and your opinions, we do not have the right to exercise our individual freedoms because we disagree.

okay, so I should not be punished if I go 80 mph in a school zone with kids crossing the road because of my individual freedom?

What opinion did I express?

The general consensus here seems to be exactly what you state

Where did I say that corporations are citizens? This is a group of citizens, both students and faculty, that have expressed a desire to not display any flags on campus . .

Where do I sign up to be the hypocritical judge of who gets to exercise what freedoms?. . Do I have to go thru hypocritical training? Do I get paid or is it just for satisfaction of telling people what they can and should do to meet my standards

Do I get a badge or something that lets everyone know I am the moral authority?

What law requires that flags must be displayed? Which flags are required to be displayed? Who is in danger when they are not?
