Can't find anyone with this issue anywhere.
I restarted the computer and upon starting up windows keeps trying to update itself and around 70% it gives me the sad face blue screen and restarts.

It's been in this loop for hours. I can't get into safe mode by mashing shift and f8.
First thing I'd do in safe mode is uninstall comodo security suite.

Any ideas of what I could do?

This is a new toshiba laptop purchased from best buy about a week ago.

It's running windows 8.1.
This was my parents computer so as an emergency fix I did a recover "refresh" and had to reinstall all of their applications as that feature wipes all installed programs but leaves your files intact.

So the issue is resolved but not how I would have liked.
For future reference is there any other options in win 8.1 that doesn't involve losing all of your installed applications when you can't get passed the updating startup screen?
