I did a software update on my phone and now when i press the menu button at the bottom left of the screen, up comes as you see in my attachment. I did a factory reset after that and it`s the same. The usual thing to happen is for an options list to appear which includes edit and settings. Anyone ideas please

This is the default action for that button on the Galaxy S4. To access the multitasking option, then you need to press and hold or double tap the home button.

Thank You, i see that now, but is there a way to put that function back to what it was before the update, by having the options show when i push the menu button?

Not without rooting the phone. TBH, it should have always been like that for the S4.

Yes, it was like that before the software update, press the menu button and the options list would appear showing settings and edit, not that transparent screen i showed. I wonder if i did the correct software update .
