Hello:

Evening All:

For quite awhile I've tried many times/methods to get ANY comp to recognize this phone. It's a never ending endeavor. Today alone I tried 4 different "sites" trying to get the drivers for this phone. I supposedly installed driver 1.48.0 (samsung), a 'universal" Adb, D/l from a Samsung site and Kies. None worked. Even tried Kies 3 times which said it installed the driver, but comp still didn't recognize phone? I'll bet I've tried to D/l-install these driver(s) at least 2 dozen times with failure every time. So, I'm asking for help from someone that knows what their doing and who can possibly help me. The phone is an older model shw-m110s running Android 2.2. It is rooted (according to z4Root) and tethered/USB debugged. I'm forced to use a Dell PC and laptop running Win7. Even ran Kies troubleshooting program which stated "Connection error troubleshoot process is complete"! I cannot figure what I'm doing wrong? I really don't think the driver is getting installed even though some of the programs says it it???? Needless to say I've spent far more time/effort trying to "open up" up this phone so I can upgrade the O.S than should be necessary. It can't possibly be this complicated, nor time consuming. I hate to say this, but I've given up and am now desperate. PLEASE, help me get this straightened out!!! phone: Samsung Anycall GalaxyS model shw-m110s- Froyo 2.2- "rooted"

Thank You:
Rick

I have a feeling that you are having trouble is because the phone is rooted. I would recommend you use a cloud storage device to transfer files from your PC to the phone instead.

Appreciate your response. I'm puzzled by the problem being because the phone is rooted? Could you elaborate?

Rooting your device changes quite a lot. A bad root may mean that it loses the ability to transfer data through the USB port.

Tried to read up on/find causes/symptoms of 'bad rooting", but didn't achieve much. Still not sure how one would determine if the phone was rooted improperly? Did try to D/l a 'root checker", yet couldn't I suppose due the version of O.S. the phone runs (FroYo 2.2). Was told to find someone who had a PC/laptop and try to do all the steps needed to upgrade. They felt a "public access" comp, such as what I've been forced to use, was the culprit? So, that's the next endeavor to try. Does this sound reasonable to you?

I am not sure as I do not root phones. A root checker is only going to check to see if you have root access, nothing more than that.

Is it possible for you to return back to factory settings?

I doubt root is the jssue, could be the laptop ur using ?
Have you tried Odin ? See what the status is. Yes I understand the laptop will not recognize the phone but sometimes Odin or a program trying to communicate with a device can trigger a driver install.

Have u tried restoring the phone via factory reset?
Have you got a custom recovery? U could flash another ROM for ur upgrade or flash the stock firmware via the custom recovery therefore you don't need ur laptop.

Greetings Bogmat & Masterchiefxx17:

Thank You both for weighing in. I need to say how frustrating and, in my opinion, how utterly ridiculous this endeavor has turned out. There's no way it should be this difficult. That said, perhaps I need to take most of the blame for I've neglected to mention this is NOT an "American" Samsung phone. It's a Samsung Anycall Galaxy S1 (Korean) model shw-m110s.(perhaps a different beast altogether???) I've been to 'Youtube" and watched the videos on this particular model which have Jellybean and/or KitKat installed. Did not seem to find a video that gave instructions on "how-to" accomplish these upgrades. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the "upgrade" result if I use either Odin or Kies? (Which had not been the case.) Again, I reiterate the failure I incur when trying to install the drivers needed to recognize this phone! Perhaps there is a specific driver I'm not aware of that is needed? I've went to many sites that I have specifically requested drivers for this model. So, they're out there. (?) Tomorrow, I'm going to use a friends laptop to, once again, try to accomplish an upgrade to the O.S. I've been told using a public comp is the problem?! Perhaps you're wondering why I want/need to upgrade? The reasons are multiple and varied, but basically because the majority of today's software (apps) are not compatible with the 2.2 version. Most apps need at least a 4.1 or later version to run on. Now, with this latest information, do either of you have any ideas/suggestions to offer that may assist in my accomplishing an upgrade?
With Regards:
Rick

Hi Rick,
Yes from ur model I had picked up that u were in fact using a Korean phone. But that shouldn't be reason why ur having issue's.
As far as the phone goes compared to "American" or "International" phone there are slight differences in the firmware to support dual Sim and different radios of course bit nothing too dramatic.
Now as u stated ur using a public computer.. This may be an issue as the vendor may have thrown in some stupid precautions to stop ppl from attaching USB device's. Uing a friends laptop will be ideal.
As far as ur USB drivers I have found 2...there is a lot more but please ref to links.

https://www.4shared.com/file/f9g9csPi...ver_for_M.html
First link was retrieved from XDA where I read a USB connection issue but had stated were to download the latest drivers which someone had uploaded to a file share site.

https://www.samsung.com/sec/support/model/SHW-M110SCWSC
Second is as far as I am aware is official Samsung site for your phones driver's. If u use Samsung there shouldn't be any other issues as far as the drivers go and the laptop your using along as they install.

U will also need to install Odin AND the lastest firmware for your phone. Best if u search YouTube or wherever that will help u restore your phone back to stock so you can recive the OTA updates.
Otherwise you will need to do it manually via either Kies and a restore or Odin and flash the latest firmware.
I found a few sites but this may be of help

https://update-phones.com/android-upd...xy-sshw-m110s/

I understand ur frustration you phone is rather old and Samsung doesn't support it much via the Internet, but there is still some threads for XDA, it might not be a waste of time taking a look their.

Good luck :+1:
