So whenever my girlfriend force resets her laptop, it bluescreens, or otherwise dies, the WiFi connection that my laptop maintains gets severed, and I cannot connect to the internet unless I reboot. I've tried to go to my network settings and disable/re-enable the wireless connection but that does not reset the connection. Any tips on how I can prevent this from happening?

The router is a Comcast router.

Are the laptops simply connected to the router through their own built-in wifi adapters? If so, it sounds like perhaps you could be having an Internet IP address conflict.
In Network Connections, are both laptops set to obtain an IP address and DNS address automatically?

It almost sounds like you have a PPPOE internet connection, and Your girlfriend's machine is the one doing the Authentication, but that should not be the case with Comcast. Seen it dozens of times with DSL

Once you get both machines up and running, can you open a command prompt and run an ipconfig /all on both PC's and post the results.

Please label the results so we know which is which machine.

So we just tested it out. When she force-shutdowns her laptop, it immediately disconnects my wifi, and I can't get a status on connecting past "Attempting to authenticate." Is it possible that the router thinks that it's still authenticated with her laptop and not mine?

WOW,

1) Start with going into the network configuration of both machines and disable IPv6 for starters.

That will get rid of all the tunnel adapters

2) Comcast has associated itself to the MAC address of your girlfriends machine
To test, shutdown her machine
Reboot the Comcast modem, once it is up and running reboot your machine
Your machine should now work.

To remedy this, get yourself a Router to go between the modem and your 2 machines

Try cloning the mac address of your girlfriends network adapter in the comcast router.

Comcast are known to use mac registration which registers the first network adapter mac addres to connect to their service when first setup and connect to the modem.

We could not see any connection from your girlfriends ipconfig /all as it was not the full list.
