I'm recently 24 and realized in the last few months I have friends from High School who have their Bachelors and are better off than me which of course gets me wondering *** I'm doing...so here I am working to figure out my life path.

I currently have done 1 year at a community college then an Associates for Visual Communications from ITT Tech then worked at a call center for almost 2 years then got a job with a global scale company doing real IT Tech Support for Internal Users/Employees making 37.5k a year.

I've found in my 9 months at this job that I like; Documentation, Process, Helping the end user better understand their; cause of issue, predicament, resolution, as well as I like finding ways to optimize the system. For example the company's process for access is flooded with documents that people get confused on etc etc. I like making documents on How To to end users so they will stop calling me so I'll stop wishing they'd burst into flames.

Colleagues & my gf (CMDB Admin) suggest I need to start towards the path of an ITL Specialist or Knowledge Base/Knowledge Material Expert. I'm hoping if I get good at what I do my position would have the leisure of VPN/Work from home. I don't know if that is the proper path for me so I want honest community opinions because I just want an unbiased/never met me opinion. It's a lonely feeling not knowing what I should set my sights on.

I've been in IT for 16 years, and I have no idea what an ITL Specialist or Knowledge Base/Knowledge Material Expert is.
