I have 27 years of service now...Army Signal Corps Officer

It would help to know what your interests are, what your skill set is and what education and certifications you have.

Trying to determine what will be desired by employers in 5 years can be difficult in IT but you can bet that cyber security and cloud based computing will be important.

Answer: Have worked as an IT manager, strategic planning, MS degree in Info Tech with an emphasis in a Homeland Security Management..11 years experience managing an IT infrastructure at the enterprise level...working toward Security Plus Cert & CISSP

A bit silly to try and guess into the future that far... but, if anything, cloud based networks / computing, and of course security.

I have a job in the IT industry as a senior firewall - intrusion analyst. Previous military but I was not IT I was in the field. You can get a similar job just remember to become a "civie" when you get out but keep your Military precision about all things.
