Hi,

I just recently sat my 70-640 exam and was absolutely shocked by my result - I failed miserabley.

I watched the TrainSignal videos and realised they were out of date as they didnt cover the R2 version. I also studied using an online course from SkillSoft which was paid for by my company.i was scoring highly in the test exams so i thought i was pretty much ready.

I was surprised at the amount of questions on certificates and DNS, it seemed to amount to 70 or 80% of the entire exam.

It seemed that the TrainSignal series i watched focused alot on the basics of Active Directory such as installing, which servers should function which role and so on, but the exam was so granular that it was quite honestly no help at all.

Does anyone have any recommended resources for this particular exam?

I want to pass this MCSA Windows Server 2008 so I can move on to study for Citrix XenApp primarily.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Well unfortunately it's not a good idea to focus on one area, you should study everything related to the exam. Secondly exams like this are usually done by people who do the tasks related to server 2008 on a daily basis.

certifications are designed to show your experience level.

I do use Server 2000, Server 2003, Server 2008 R2 and SBS 2003 on a daily basis for the majority of my tasks as a system engineer.

have you tried the ms press books?

Good practice exams and training material are usually paid for. The best practice exam provider I have ever used is CCNP Network Simulator & Router Simulator | NetSim 9.0 not sure if they do server exams though.
