Hi Ive tried to include all details I can. I'm not very tech savvy so you will have to bear with me. My pc has pretty much crashed frequently from the day I got it. Sometimes its when watching videos, sometimes when doing not a lot and other times when ive been away from the pc for a while.

In event viewer its showing 6 critical errors in the last 7 days. All of them kernel 41 errors: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. I am attaching the details asked for in the BSOD posting instructions post in my next post ...

Cheers

and welcome to the Forum

Why did you reinstall windows 7?

How did you reinstall it?

What version is it onw 32 bit or 64 bit?

Have you download all the drivers from Dell support?

Hi I reinstalled it as I thought that may resolve the issues. I formatted the hard drive and reintalled from the disc that came with the pc. Its still running windows 7 64bit.

Thanks for replying...

If you have not done so, I would download all the drivers from Dell.

go to the Dell support site, enter your Service Tag Number and download the drivers. Be sure to use IE and do not use the Dell Download Manager!

Just download the driver file, save it to the desktop and double click to install

On the list of drivers, click on the driver file:

Then the download button here:

See this for the order they should be installed:

https://support.dell.com/support/topi...=en&l=en&s=dhs

If that does not help, Click on the link to Memtest in my signature and run diaghostics on the memory

Hi I installed all the latest dell drivers when i reinstalled windows. I will try again though. The samsung device I have is a wireless printer. I bought that after the pc and had the bsods with my old printer attached so don't think thats the problem. I will run memtest today.

Thanks again guys.....

Ok I installed all the drivers on the dell site as instructed and ran the driver verifier from the instructions. When I pressed finish nothing happened? Should it have?

What driver verifier? Never seen that. Did you download the driver files and run them individually?

OK so all had worked ok for a while but just had another BSOD after leaving the pc idle for a bit. It mentioned something about memory management? Ive tried reseating the RAM so guess we'll see if that works. Is there any sort of dump/report i can attach on here so you techys can have a scan at it?

Cheers

Based on the memory management error, you should uninstall your current antivirus and then replace it with MSE.

If you'd like us to look at the error(s), please navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the files there to any other folder then rar or zip them. Attach the rar or zip to a post using the paperclip above where you type.

Is it likely that avast is causing these problems then?

Ive attached the files in the minidump folder

Sure, very well could be. I've seen a lot of Avast problems lately.

I mean, you're getting 0x3b errors with Windows files. That basically means antivirus problem.

While your attending to the pc, it would also be good to update the Realtek audio driver from here:

https://downloads.guru3d.com/Realtek-...load-2539.html

Based on the date of this driver, I would either update or uninstall UltraMon:

Code:
UltraMonUtility UltraMonUtility.sys Thu Nov 13 20:10:30 2008
But ya, it comes down to removing that Avast to cure problems. Here's a utility to do so. Please follow its instructions:

https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Great! Ya, I was on Ultramon's site and it seems they have new software available from what you have.

Please let us know how things seem to be going after a little.

Ultramon wouldnt install(network error?) but have updated the realtek driver. Just a quick question regarding MSE. It seems to be blocking one of my hotmail accounts on my email utlity(thunderbird). Any idea how I get it to stop blocking it?

Ok I had another crash of the system after leaving the system idle for a fair few hours. Usual kernel power error:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Critical 30/05/2010 19:42:27 Kernel-Power 41 (63)

There don't seem to be any new files in the minidump folder though?
Anything I can upload for you guys to have a look at?
