Firstly i'd like to say what an awesome thing you guys have going here, helping people with their problems for free, i myself work in an IT Helpdesk but i'm only new to it, most of my knowledge comes from good old home PC building (and sometimes breaking).

I'll start from the beginning, firstly my machine specs:

Intel i7 930
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 (i previously had the 1.0, will explain)
12Gb of Corsair DDR3 RAM (6x 2Gb Sticks)
HIS 6950 2GB Graphics Card
WD 2TB HDD
Antec 900 Case
700w PSU not sure of the brand TBH, came with the case.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64
https://speccy.piriform.com/results/H...xgGSLm1YZ2VwM7

What was originally happening was a completely random fault with the motherboard detecting all the RAM (i only had 6Gb at this stage, all from the one 3x2Gb stick set), i'd start it up and it'd sometimes detect all the RAM but would only be able to use 4Gb of it, it'd say this in Windows and when i went into BIOS all the timings and everything would be missing for one of the sticks, but what was random is if i rebooted it'd change, it'd be the same problem but a different stick or sometimes it wouldn't happen at all.

I thought this was seriously very strange, i'd seen RAM issues before, faulty sticks sometimes working sometimes not, faulty slots, but never something so random, so i googled about and found that a few people had had this issue and several said that the latest BIOS update fixed it.

So i flashed the BIOS in the hopes it'd fix it, well it fixed the RAM issue alright, but it gained another issue, it started BSODing with memory management error, when i looked into this it seems that that also was a known fault for that BIOS version, when it throttled the CPU down it'd take to much voltage from the memory management controller in the CPU and it would not manage the memory properly causing a BSOD, how much i believe this i don't know, sounds plausable, yet odd.

So i tampered with the voltages a little as recommended on a few different sites, got the computer to run semi-stable for a while, except when i was playing Bad Company 2, that game and that game alone would cause BSOD's still, randomly, sometimes after 20 minutes of play sometimes hours.

So i RAN memtest on the machine for 187 passes over the RAM (left it on a few days :P ) to see if the RAM was at fault, it was fine, so i gave in and replaced the board for the same model but a Rev 2.0, my friend had one with the same stuff as me and no issues at all.

Well the Rev 2.0 is in now, has been a couple of months, i also doubled the RAM with a second kit of identical RAM, bought a new GPU, from a XFX 5770 1Gb to a HIS 6950 2Gb.

This seemed to fix all of the problems except one, i still get BSOD when playing Bad Company 2, completely random, i played for 4hrs the other day without one problem, played for 2 hrs tonight and had 2 BSOD's already.

They always have the same code on them, Hardware Failure x124, also in the event viewer i found a critical error, Event ID 41, which when i looked it up some people commented about having 2 sound devices installed which caused this, i checked in device manager and had a AMD High Definition Audio Device installed, i uninstalled this device and still got the error x124, i have reinstalled the game, i haven't reinstalled Windows, i was hoping to avoid that, do any of you have any idea wth is going on with this machine?! i have replaced the board and graphics card and checked the RAM thoroughly, i'm all out of ideas short of a Windows reinstall which i really don't want to do if possible.....

Sorry for the very long post and thank you all again for your time, help and coffee powered brain power ;)

I'm going to move you over to the Bsod forum. seeing this isn't game related.

Hi -

The majority of the dumps had bugcheck 0x124 = WHEA = Machine Check Exception = unknown hardware failure

Others were memory related.

Driver Verifier flagged Radmin Server driver raddrvv3.sys

https://www.radmin.com/products/radmin/rserver.php

Remove Daemon Tools/ Alcohol 120/50

Thanks a bunch for that, i did some more troubleshooting of my own in the last few days as well.

I got another BSOD, can't remember, think it was x01a but don't quote me on it, i did some hunting around and my RAM timings weren't set correctly, i have no upped the DRAM voltage and set the timings to Corsairs recommended settings.

Also i have uninstalled Easy Tune, the driver for this program seems to cause BSOD's in itself.

I haven't had another BSOD since, so things are looking pretty good, i will however look for a newer version of RAdmin and update Daemon tools.

Thanks very much for your help, this has been troubling me for some time now.

After posting that the machine ran well for a day, but yesterday morning when i got up for work and turned the machine on i got a memory management BSOD again, seems to be a bit iffy still, each time i start up it seems to either be stable or unstable, it can't decide.

Seems though that the RAM my board came with, which i subsequently bought another 6GB of, isn't actually on the compatibility list for my motherboard and several other people have had the same issues.

I have instead purchased yesterday, for $117 a 3x4Gb set of Kingston DD3 which my board is rated for, hopefully this fixes the issue once and for all.

Should anyone be interested i now have 12Gb 2x sets of TR3X6G1333C9 for sale at half their original price :P will ship anywhere + cost of postage, tested and good, i've run 187 passes over the RAM with memtest x86 and it came back perfect.

But also buyer beware, check carefully the RAM compatibility list before you purchase and make sure if you're buying a complete system as i did that it doesn't come with incompatible RAM.

Funny thing, as i wrote that last paragraph (i'm on my laptop), the desktop was just sitting there, i'd just started it up, hadn't done a thing with it yet, got BSOD x1A, i hope this new RAM fixes it, failing that it can only be the CPU, i've checked the seating on it, it's perfect, it is running a tiny bit hot when under load, up to 90C when playing Bad Company 2 but it's still 10 from the max and i have a new cooler arriving next week to fix that.

I've replaced the motherboard, GPU and soon RAM on this machine so far, should i get more issues i'll post back again updating that it must be the CPU... hopefully it's not, this is getting expensive :P

Thanks for all your help so far and heopfully this helps others with the same issues with their board.

Also i must add that this guide helped me a lot in just getting it semi-stable (no i was not running an OC, just helped with the RAM settings/voltages). Guide to Overclocking the Core I7 920 or 930 to 4.0ghz - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Mat.

If you have not received the new ram yet try setting the ram speed at 1066 and see if it's stable.

Oh i have, makes no difference :P

And the RAM hasn't arrived yet, should be Tuesday roughly.

Sucks though, the money i spent on that RAM was supposed to be for a second HIS 6950 2GB IceQ for when BF3 is launched :(

Just thought I'd update this as it may be helpful for others, the new Kingston RAM I bought has resolved this issue, all my troubles were simply from attempting to get RAM which wasn't on the compatibility list for my motherboard to run, now it's running very stable, thank you for all your help.
