Having a horrible time with a persistent DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD. I thought it was some old scanner drivers, so I removed those and the crashing stopped for a while. But now it's back with a vengeance.

Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA8009077060, 0xFFFFF800044A33D8, 0xFFFFFA8008EDF010)
Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

System is Dell Latitude E6430s with 8GB of RAM, i5-3320M cpu. Intel HD graphics 4000.

Just ran Driver Verifier and it BSOD'd almost instantly. That blue screen pointed at Sentinel64.sys...tried looking that up, came up with nothing.

Minidump attached. I'm at a complete loss. Help!

Your Whocrashed output named ntkrnlmp.exe as the probable cause. It is the Windows kernel; is not the cause; listed merely as a default.

The lone dump that you attached lists the Microsoft USB hub driver usbhub.sys as the probable cause. Again, it is listed as a default. Microsoft drivers do not cause BSODs.

https://www.sysnative.com/drivers/dr...?id=usbhub.sys

The dump had a bugcheck - 0x9f (0x3,,,) - driver is in an inconsistent power state due to a blocked IRP. Unfortunately, the blocked IRP does not name any 3rd party drivers.

Code:

See if Driver Verifier flags any 3rd party drivers - https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ed-473665.html

If Driver Verifier flags a 3rd party driver, it will force a BSOD.

Thanks for the help. That first attachment is the actual driver verifier dump. Maybe you'll see something I didn't. All I saw was usbhub.sys mentioned.

Last night I updated every single driver on the system, including the chipset. It would be nice if that did the trick...will watch.

I didn't see "VERIFIER_ENABLED" in the dump listed at the end of my post that listed usbhub.sys as the probable cause.

I would suggest trying Driver Verifier again - https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ed-473665.html

p.s. What is plugged into the USB ports?

Just a HP printer and Canon scanner, although I unplugged the latter, thinking that might be the source of the problem. This computer also runs JAWS for the visually impaired.

Since updating every driver on the computer with Snappy Driver Installer it seems to have stabilized. Maybe the chipset was unhappy? I don't know. But no BSODs yet!

Thanks kindly for your help, and wishing you a speedy recovery!

BSOD and a System Upgrade question (Moved from MS Support)
Yesterday I had 1 bsod and then also a screen freeze with me doing a hard restart. This happened during the time I was changing my drivers for 4870. I'm assuming the bsod was caused because of the driver change. Since then it seems to be running fine, with no more freezes or bsod. Now i just...
