Hiya, I've been getting this annoying BSoD everytime I play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3. It says it's caused by ntoskrnl.exe.

There's a workaround; If I uninstall my Audio Drivers and reboot and then start Battlefield, I can play until I close the game. If I start it again after that, I can only play for like 30-45 Minutes and then I get a BSoD.

It also only happens with Multiplayer. I've tried different Drivers.

It's RealTek On-Board.

I've uploaded the Dump file in a .rar archive, I'd really appreciate any kind of help!

Just tried running with the Driver Verifier, and it gives me a BSoD when I try to reboot, it works if I enter failsafe mode, though.

I've uploaded a new Dump file with this reply.

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

The Driver Verifier memory dump blames RTCore64.sys - a component of Riva Tuner/MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision - and a known cause of BSOD's in Win7 systems.
This driver also dates from 2005 - so it's most likely the cause of the crashes. Uninstall it immediately!!!

Also, you have the ASACPI.sys driver dating from 2005 - and this is a known BSOD cause in Win7 systems. Please visit the Asus support website for your motherboard and downlaod/install the latest version of the ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver (usually in the ATK section or the Utility section). If you can't find it, post back with the exact make and model number of your motherboard.

OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.

Thanks for the very detailed answer!

Okay so I've updated some Drivers for my Motherboard, and I can now Boot successfully with Driver Verifier.

So I gave Battlefield 3 a new chance but it locked up again, and I was hoping for a DMP that would be Driver Verified.

I used Blue Screen View and it doesn't show that it's Driver Verified(Like it did on the others...). Any suggestions as what to do next?

I attached the new DMP file just in case it'd be of any help at all. Though I'm pretty sure it's exactly like the one in my first post.

NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

Is Driver Verifier still running? If so, shut it off by selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first screen, then click on "Finish" - then reboot the system.

The STOP 0x124 error is most likely a hardware problem, but can be caused by compatibility, low-level drivers, or malware. I must have the information requrested above to complete the analysis.

ALso, as this is most likely a hardware issue, start by running these free diagnostics and stress tests:
Quote:
Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks
Then, if the above tests pass, I'd try these free stress tests:
Quote:
FurMark download site: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
NOTE: Set the alarm to go off at 90บC. Then watch the system from that point on. If the system doesn't display a temperature, watch it constantly and turn it off at the first sign of video problems. DO NOT leave it it unmonitored, it can DAMAGE your video card!!!
If the temperature gets above 100บC, quit the test - the video card is overheating.
- Click "Quit" to exit
Quote:
Prime95 download site: Free Software - GIMPS
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight please run the "Small FFTs" test instead. (run all 3 if you find a problem and note how long it takes to error out with each)
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
Monitor the CPU temperature and DON'T let it exceed 85บC. If it does, then you probably have a CPU cooling problem.
This won't necessarily crash the system - but check the output in the test window for errors.
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.
More details on the use of this test: Torture test your CPU with Prime95

More Video Stress Tests:
1. Thanks to VirGnarus for finding this test: https://simtk.org/home/memtest
2. Two other video stress tests (may be more stressful than FurMark):

Okay, I just ran FurMark GPU Stress Test. I ran the Benchmark at 1280x720 as I couldn't find 1360x768(Using a TV as Monitor.).

AA: 0 Samples
FPS: min:9, max:10, avg:8

Renderer: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (10DE-0191, 1 GPU)
Drivers: 8.17.12.8562 (10-15-2011) - GL:nvoglv64
Clocks *: core:400MHz, mem:600MHz, shader:900MHz

*: I must underclock my GPU slightly for it to get Stable, if I don't I'll get artifices and Meshes will get stretched and textures will be placed all over the place. I know this means that my GPU is in a bad condition, but still, if I underclock it I can run every game I've played this far without any problems.

Only exceptions are BF:BC2 and BF3(Not the BF3 Beta, however.)

I'll update this Reply as I do more tests(I ran RAM and HDD Tests about 3 weeks ago, they all turned out fine. I tested the RAM over the night, ~8 Hours.)

Try underclocking the GPU even more and see if it decreases the frequency/amount of problems with the BF:BC2 and BF3 games. If so, it's then likely that the damage to the GPU is causing this (due to increased demands from the 2 games that isn't present with other programs).

We can't diagnose specific parts of the GPU, so it's most likely that the "fix" will be a new GPU. If purchasing one, be sure to get one that you can return and get your money back (in case it doesn't fix things).

Good luck!

Hi again, I were just playing again and got this BSoD after like 5 Minutes. And this time it's Driver Verified.

Might also be worth to mention; When it locks up in BF:BC2/BF3 it doesn't actually show me a BSoD, the frame freezes and the audio gets set on a loop - creating this rather loud buzzing sound.

Also, this did not happen before Battlefield released the Bad Company 2: Vietnam expansion and did not happen during the Battlefield 3 Open Beta...

Thanks for taking your time to help me out! I owe you one!

Edit: Heh, forgot to upload the new DMP file...

Please turn Driver Verifier off. To do this, open Driver Verifier and select "Delete existing settings", click on "Finish" and reboot the system. Driver Verifier is designed to cause BSOD's - so the system may continue to generate errors even if the driver is OK to run normally.

The memory dump blames the networking drivers for your wired ethernet device. Please do the following:
- download a fresh copy of the wired networking driver from the motherboard manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current software/drivers for the wired ethernet device
- install the freshly downloaded drivers and monitor for further BSOD's
