dell inspiron 1525 will not boot up

Running vista. Will boot in safe, but hangs at crcdsk.sys. tried CHKDSK ( finishes 3 of 3). Then hangs again. What to do?

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, once you get back into Windows, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Scanners (read the details at the link)

First run a PSA as it is a DELL system,as soon as you press the power button keep tapping the F12 button..select diagnostics..it will run the tests..if there is any error code please post it here..

Dell Inspiron 1525 won't boot up
The message reads " The device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. It may not be completely inserted or may have some other problem." I have already removed the memory and re-inserted it but that didn't fix it.
