Have recently bought a new computer and built it from scratch. I've been having problems with blue screen in the first ten minutes after I cold start it but after that the computer usually works without problem until the next day. I have been running memtest a few times and it havn't found any problems with tha RAM and updated all the drivers i could find.

Will attach a dumpfile for you all to review and hopefully help me fix this problem.

The file provided just tells us something is going wrong with your system and causing Windows to shut down / restart. That is fairly typical of reports generated by 3rd party blue screen tools; they are often vague and point to Windows as the cause of the blue screens rather than showing the true cause.

To get the best help, please follow the https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html so we can analyze the full crash reports. We also go through the .dmp files with WinDbg since it provides better information than 3rd party blue screen tools.

The .txt file does show that you've had an assortment of bugcheck codes, so this is most likely a hardware issue. Your description of cold boot problems is also consistent with that hypothesis. Cold boot problems are typically due to RAM that is not properly handling the voltage supplied to it. The problems can sometimes be fixed with voltage adjustments to the RAM or CPU, but they generally indicate defective RAM.

Quote:
WARNING:
  • We do not recommend changing voltages for the RAM or CPU yourself. If you want help doing so, follow the instructions at the end of this post to provide us with information so we may guide you in the process.
You said you found errors with the RAM. What have you done to troubleshoot the RAM, i.e. RMA (replacement through the manufacturer) of the RAM?

Quote:
Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot. To upload all screenshots, it would be best to:
  1. generate the images using the Snipping Tool,
  2. go to where the images are saved,
  3. right click in a blank area within the folder where the images are saved,
  4. create a new folder,
  5. name the folder CPUZ,
  6. select all the images,
  7. place the pointer over an image,
  8. press and hold down the left mouse button and drag the image (all images should move with it),
  9. drop the images into the CPUZ directory you created,
  10. create a compressed (zipped) folder of CPUZ
  11. upload the .zip file to the forums.

Also, go into your BIOS and post all Voltages (CPU, RAM, NB, IMC, etc.) and all RAM settings (timings, frequency, etc.)

Did the first step that you asked me to do and hopefully the zip file is added here. Will check all the BIOS and take all the screenshots you need to check that info aswell.

I have been running memtestx86 a couple of times. I have run the test during coldstarts and i have run it at evening while i was eating dinner, the computer been on for at least 3 hours) all the times for about 30 minutes and never showed any errors.

Have taking the screenshots at CPU-Z aswell now so will add them here aswell

Recommendations:
30 Minutes is not enough time to really test the RAM. It should be tested for 7-10 passes and up to 22 passes to find problems.

I also see lots of BugChecks indicate a possible driver conflict. Run https://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ed-473665.html and report back in 36-48 hours with any new .dmps created by Verifier.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

Lycosa.sys Fri Jan 18 01:51:42 2008 (4790689E)
Razer Lycosa/Razer Tarantula Keyboard Driver
https://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Lycosa.sys

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.

3rd Party Drivers:
The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

Have been following the steppes to change the driver verifier. When i read it i interpreted it to mean that it would be a BSoD when i was done with the changes, and their was none. Will send a new zipfile when i get home later today with the new BSoD. Have run a 9 hour memtest v4.20 aswell. 5 full runthroughs and 80% on runthrough 6 and no problems found now either. proberbly gonna run a memtest when i'm heading to bed tonight aswell and let it run until i get home from school tomorrow, which should enable atleast 10 runthroughs.

Here comes the last line of dumps I've got. Really need to know what the problem might be so I could replace the thing that makes my computer crash.

And a 20 hour Memtest i performed showed 0 faults with the memory.

Have seen that my CPU uses 100% when i start my computer that worries me aswell, but after 10 sec it is back down to 2 %.

Recommendations:
Crashes point primarily to your avast! software and your Lycosa Razer device.

Disable Verifier prior to doing the following troubleshooting steps.

Remove avast! with the avast! removal tool and replace it instead with Microsoft Security Essentials to test. Also, consider replacing your Lycosa Razer device with a generic device instead.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

xusb21.sys Thu Aug 13 16:10:17 2009 (4A848F49)
XBox USB wireless controller [br] BSOD issues in Win7 with 2009 driver (found in mid-2012)
https://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=xusb21.sys

dtsoftbus01.sys Fri Jan 13 06:45:46 2012 (4F10358A)
Daemon Tools driver [br] Possible BSOD issues in Win7
https://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=dtsoftbus01.sys

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.

3rd Party Drivers:
The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

Just bought a new keyboard just to see what my computer will say about it. Also removed Avast anti virus and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Shall i reactivate Verifier or let it be until i get a new BSoD, if there will be one?

I think it would be best to leave Verifier disabled for now.

I would suggest that you make sure all remnants of the Lycosa Razer device were removed from the system. You will probably need to show hidden devices in Device Manager to find it. It should be listed under Human Interface Devices or Keyboards, but it may take some hunting to find any Lycosa Razer devices listed.

Show Hidden Devices:
Open an elevated command prompt.
  1. Click Start Menu
  2. Click All Programs
  3. Click Accessories
  4. Right click Command Prompt
  5. Click Run as administrator
  6. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
  7. Type into command prompt
    Code:
    set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
  8. Hit enter.
  9. Type
    Code:
    devmgmt.msc
  10. Click View (at the top)
  11. Check Show hidden devices
  12. Expand the appropriate category for your hidden device(s).
  13. Uninstall the appropriate device(s).
  14. Restart your computer.
To fully uninstall a driver, use the following steps.
  1. Click Start Menu
  2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
  3. Click Manage
  4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
  5. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  6. Right click the device
  7. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  8. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  9. Restart your computer.

Alternatively:
  1. Login as an adminstrative user.
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Hardware and Sound
  5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
  6. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  7. Right click the device
  8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  10. Restart your computer.

Have been doing a full checkup after anything connected to Lycosa, and it doesn't seem like there is anything left. Still get BSoD's though so will link the last dumps for you to take a look at, and will also submit a screenshot of the device manager with the tabs for keyboard and HID extended. It is in swedish, so if you need anything translated just give me a tell and i will try to explain them.

Recommendations:

Other than Daemon Tools, the system looks a lot cleaner. With avast! and the Lycosa/Razer driver removed, the system crashes point primarily to a hard drive related problem. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems.
  • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

  • Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Event Viewer. In Event Viewer, expand Windows Logs, click Application to let it load, right click Application and click Find.... Search for chkdsk or wininit to find the logs.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

  • Run all Basic tests with SeaTools: S.M.A.R.T. Check, Short Drive Self Test, Drive Information, Short Generic, and Long Generic. Run the tests for all HDDs.
    SeaTools for Windows

    SeaTools for DOS
  • If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

  • Run a system file check to check Windows for corruption:
    1. Click Start Menu
    2. Click All Programs
    3. Click Accessories
    4. Right click Command Prompt
    5. Click Run as administrator
    6. Type
      Code:
      sfc /scannow
      and press Enter
    7. Once it is complete, make note of the message. If it says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and post back
    8. If the message does not say Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and do steps 1-6 again.
    9. You may need to do steps 1-6 up to three times with a restart in between each run to resolve all corrupted files.
    10. If you still have corrupted files after a fourth run, post back here with the following:
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Click Computer
      3. Open your C: drive
      4. Open Windows
      5. Open Logs
      6. Open CBS
      7. Copy and paste CBS.log or CBS (it may not have the log extension) to a location you will remember.
      8. Compress (zip) the CBS file and attach the .zip file to your next post.

  • Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, I recommend:Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

  • Run Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find errors. You should also run it once when the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then run it again once the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. You may want to run both Memtest86+ and the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

dtsoftbus01.sys Fri Jan 13 06:45:46 2012 (4F10358A)
Daemon Tools driver [br] Possible BSOD issues in Win7
https://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=dtsoftbus01.sys

To update drivers, make sure to download the drivers from the manufacturer and not using 3rd party programs. Your drivers should be found from your motherboard support site (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) or your vendor support site (Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony, etc.) first. If you have devices you bought yourself, the drivers for those devices need to be downloaded from the manufacturer support site for those devices. If you need help, let us know.

Made a coldstart Memtest v4.20 and got a few errors. What i could read from the informtaion was the following:

Test #2, failing address 001000e3f.. where the two dots was the different for the 9 different test i saw. bc, c4, cc, d4, dc, e4, ec, f4, fc.
the good count was always ffffffff, but the bad count was different ff..ffff where the two dots was hexa-decimal 66, c8, 1c, d4, ef, f7, f2, 5a, a8. Error bits also change to 00..0000,where the dots was 99, 37, e3, 2b, 10, 08, 0d, a5 and 57 count 2029 to 2037.

Does this show to corrupt/broken memory stick

Yes, you likely have a bad memory module or bad motherboard slot. You will have to go through the Memtest86+ tutorial to determine which module is bad or which slot is bad.

Crashes are pointing to a display card driver issue.

Can you get into Safe Mode?

If so, uninstall your NVIDIA drivers.
  • Click Start Menu
  • Right Click My Computer/Computer
  • Click Manage
  • Click Device Manager from the list on the left
  • Expand Display adapters
  • Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
    • Right click the adapter
    • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Alternatively:
  1. Login as an adminstrative user
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Hardware and Sound
  5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
  6. Expand Display adapters
  7. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
    • Right click the adapter
    • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

Restart your computer and see if you can then start normally.

I can get into Safemode. Was thinking there might be a fault on my graphic card, so tried switching the graphic card to my 5 year old Nvidia 9800 gtx, and it did work. Will try swapping back and remove the nvidia driver to see what it says. will reply again in about an hour with result. Have contacted the shop i bought the RAM from to see if i can change them aswell.
