My PC crashed with a BSOD saying DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
The mentioned error code was 0x0000009f.

I've generated and attached the 'jcgriff' zip file, so all required information to find out what the problem is, should be available.

Can anybody help me find out what is wrong?

Thanks,
Reinier

Here's some system information:
- Windows 7 x64 Ultimate UK, oem (pre-installed on custom built PC)
- Motherboard: GigaByte GA-Z68X-UD3H, S1155, Z68, 4xDDR3, AT
- BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG, version GBT - 42302e31, release date 20110513
- Processor: Intel Core i7-2600, 3.40GHz, 8MB, HD2000, S1155
- Memory: Kingston ValueRam 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz CL9
- Graphics: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550Ti, 1GB, Overclock
- Harddisk: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA3
- Harddisk 2: 2x(striped) Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB 7200rpm 32MB SATA2
- Power: CoolerMaster Silent Pro M500, 500Watt, ATX
- DVD Writer: LG GH22NS 22x DVDRW, SATA

Perhaps also worth mentioning:
- I get BSOD's several times a week (have used the PC for about 3 weeks now)
- I wonder if it is related to the BIOS.
Booting (i.e. BIOS; before loading the OS) takes very long; it sometimes seems to restart the PC wile booting

Hi -

You mentioned several BSODs/ week - only 1 dump in the attachment.

Probable cause listed as Etron USB 3.0 drivers -
Code:
EtronHub3.sys Fri May 20 21:20:28 2011 (4DD7135C)
http://sysnative.com/0x1/DriverReference.html#EtronHub3.sys

Where did you obtain the drivers from?

I downloaded the drivers from Etron; they have December 2010 timestamps -
Code:
12/05/2010 18:10 38,656 EtronHUB3.SYS
12/05/2010 18:42 8,611 etronxhci.cat
12/05/2010 18:06 4,646 EtronXHCI.INF
12/05/2010 18:09 62,720 EtronXHCI.SYS

Hi JC,
Thanks very much for looking into it.
"Where did you obtain the drivers from?"
It is the supplier of my PC who installed everything, so I don't know where he got them from.
I'll see what happens if I replace that driver with the older, 'official (?)' one.

Funny. I've searched for the files on my system and this is what I find:
25-05-2011 13:19 52.608 EtronHub3.sys
25-05-2011 13:19 8.393 EtronXHCI.cat
25-05-2011 13:19 5.076 etronxhci.inf
17-06-2011 09:59 14.392 etronxhci.PNF
25-05-2011 13:19 76.160 EtronXHCI.sys

AFAIK, the USB3 controller is integrated on the motherboard.
I wonder if GigaByte has supplied these...

I asked about the drivers only b/c I saw other not-so-nice driver sites.

What devices are plugged into USB?

Run - Driver Verifier - Windows 7 & Vista (BSOD-related)

See if it flags the USB drivers.
