Hello, and thanks in advance for taking the time to help.

First off, I couldn't find a thread with specific instructions on who to acquire all the specific log files for Windows XP - it seems the stickies only pertain to Windows 7 / Vista. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'll do my homework and my next post will have all the required background info.

Until then, some quick background info:

After running a game for about 2 - 3 minutes, as soon as a cinematic sequences comes on, my computer freezes to BSOD, and then immediately restarts. I unchecked "automatically restart" on system failure so I could try and read the error, however it still restarts instantly.

In the past I had issues with my computer restarting due to overheating (liquid cooling system had failed), but I now have a much more effective heat-sink and fan so I do not believe this is the issue.

The computer crashes even with lowest graphic settings, and even on an old game like Knights of the Old Republic.

Your help is appreciated, thanks!

If no help is being given for those running Windows XP please let me know, otherwise a response would be greatly appreciated to help get things started. I tried attaching the log of my minidump, but the this site says that a virus is detected in it and will not allow me to.

Thank you for the response. Here is the link to the speccy snap shot:

https://speccy.piriform.com/results/V...qnLKRMp456UO8x

I had a professional come today to diagnose/fix the issue. He ran combofix which apparently deleted a bunch of nasty crap and patched up some important files, but the issue was still present. After removing 2 of my 4 sticks of ram, I was able to stay in game without a crash at the usual point.

I ordered 4 new sticks of 1gb ram to update my system / replace what we suspected were the two faulty sticks. However just now I was able to replicate the same crash again with what we thought were the two remaining good sticks in place. So unsure now whether the ram is the issue or not, but the BSOD definitely came earlier / later depending what sticks we had in.

Anyways that is a long explanation for why there is only 1gb of ram right now =)

Recommendations:
Crashes point to a hardware concern.

Please run all three tests for Prime95 for 8 hours each if possible, 3 hours each minimum. I usually recommend running each test overnight for three nights after first making sure no temperature problems exist.

Also, run Memtest86+ overnight and for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find errors.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers that are pre Service Pack 3 (if possible):

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.
3rd Party Drivers:
The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

Ok will do. Quick question - should I place the two sticks of memory we thought might have been busted back into the mobo before running these tests, so I have my full 2gb present?

It may be easiest to run the tests one module at a time. Test each slot and each module individually.

Also, please see my previous post for drivers that probably need updating. I have edited the previous post with new information.

So here's the results:

Memtest ran through 19 and 22 loops for the 2 good sticks and the two "bad sticks" respectively, and came up with no errors. So perhaps the "bad sticks" aren't bad afterall.

Prime95 had no issues with Blend, and no issues with Small FFTs

With In-place large FFTs, after a while the computer would restart but not from a blue screen - looking at my temperature levels it seems that the cpu was getting really hot and caused the restart.

So still unsure of what is causing the BSOD to occur. Steps from here?

Could be the system overheating and causing the blue screens. It may also be you have incompatible RAM. Please place all RAM modules in the system and do the following:
Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot. To upload all screenshots, it would be best to:
  1. generate the images using screen shots,
  2. go to where the images are saved,
  3. right click in a blank area within the folder where the images are saved,
  4. create a new folder,
  5. name the folder CPUZ,
  6. select all the images,
  7. place the pointer over an image,
  8. press and hold down the left mouse button and drag the image (all images should move with it),
  9. drop the images into the CPUZ directory you created,
  10. create a compressed (zipped) folder of CPUZ
  11. upload the .zip file to the forums.

Also, go into your BIOS and post all Voltages (CPU, RAM, NB, IMC, etc.) and all RAM settings (timings, frequency, etc.)

I attached the requested files. Also, after I inserted all 4 RAM modules and ran memtest overnight, I woke up to an error which I took a picture of and included.

Thank you!

It appears that you have four identical modules, so that is good.

Unfortunately, the Unexpected Interrupt message is indicative of a bad module or a bad motherboard slot. Test each module one at a time in one slot at a time until you find a good slot and a good module. Test all slots with the good module to find any bad slots and test all modules in the good slot to find any bad modules.

My four new sticks arrived today, so I placed them in the mobo and ran memtest to see if the same error would occur to indicate an issue with one of the slots. Nothing came up, however it only ran for about 5 passes. I took a picture of the screen when it was through with 1 pass because I noticed it was going much slower than it had with the old RAM.

Curious what might be causing it progress so slowly - shouldn't more RAM mean it runs the tests quicker?

I'm going to try and let it run all nice/day until its done around 22 passes to see if I can recreate the freeze with the new ram. I tried running the game with it and it crashed at the main screen. Removing the two modules on the far right allowed me to play the game for several minutes but then it crashes at the same point it always has previously.

More RAM means there is more RAM to test. It will take longer for that reason regardless of what RAM you put in or how fast it is.

Sorry to hear you are still having crashes. Let us know what the Memtest86+ results are.

So running all 4 sticks at once produced the same "unexpected interrupt" I had been getting from the old ones after 2 Passes (runninig for 3.5 hours).

I removed all the sticks, and tested one stick for 10-20 passes on all for modules. No errors.

Stumped at this point on where to go - seems like the modules are at least working fine when there is only 1 stick in, but things get weird when I have them all plugged in.

Next step?

Try two sticks at a time. Put them in each dual slot pair and test each dual pair individually that way.

My slots are colored such that each pair of slots contains two different colored slots (one slot white, one slot beige).

Should I place the two sticks in a pair with different colors, or separated between the two pairs but in the same colored slot?
